Productive Learning Modules
The proposal is also supported by the resolution 620/VI about Productive Learning approved by the Cultural Commission at the Catalan Parliament, the 5th of April 2001. In the resolution, the Commission takes the compromise to give resources and promote Productive Learning projects in Catalonia and study the possibility to introduce this methodology in Secondary Education. Through the Productive Learning Modules Project, IDAP intends to give an alternative to students not adapted in school, specially during the last courses of Secondary Education, and avoid the risk of social exclusion that academic failure can lead to. A space in the school is required, adapted to the students under a higher risk of social exclusion. They should learn through an attractive way, getting motivated and through a practical training method. According to the Productive Learning methodology, the assisted self-training , the development of Individual Training Plans, obtaining products and the individual assessment are the bases for this activity. The intensive use of IT techniques is really motivating for the students and thereby, essential. IDAP receives 16 years old students , without a basic knowledge and not trained for any job to earn a living. Their self-esteem is usually so low that results in difficulties for learning. Thereby, Productive Learning Modules target on these students, to prevent academic failure resulting in social failure.
